Mabel Magazine
THE PROJECT: Mabel Magazine – a bi-annual print publication co-founded with photographer Stefanie Renée – was created to tell real stories about how women are making a living and creating a life. Our mission: to empower thoughtful conversation and encourage an honest dialogue about the different ways we support ourselves in the world —stories from entrepreneurs, artists and small biz owners about how they’ve gotten where they are.
This project brought together all the skills that I’d been honing and practicing for years: design, layout and art direction with an eye to creating a voice, a personality and an identity for an editorial product.
Mabel has tested my designer’s eye and my insight, it has helped me to think more deeply about how deep and how far to push a design and it’s taught me more about space and breath in editorial design than I ever knew I needed to learn. A true design and personal challenge, and a project that has allowed me to bring my everything to it.
Mabel Magazine’s original run was from June 2014 to November 2015. We added a 5th issue in November of 2020. All 5 issues are still available through MagCloud.
