To the Point and Back: Swimming Poems

Liz was the perfect choice to work with on this book of poems—when we started working with Liz on the design of our book it was as if she had been a part of the project all along. She understood immediately the metaphors involved in writing about swimming—she came up with ideas and designs that flowed perfectly into the poems that the two of us had written and it was clear that her investment in making the book the best it could be from a design standpoint matched our own. I felt like we had three equal partners in the project—she was flexible when we had changes to make, helpful when we had decisions we weren't sure of. She knows her craft, she is an artist and practitioner, attending to details and aesthetics with skill and grace—her design sensibility, intuition, and direction provided everything we needed to give birth to the idea of a collaborative book of poems about open water swimming.
